History of the cupcake
The earliest mention of the cupcakes goes back to 1796 when Amelia Simmons’ American Cookery described a recipe that called for "a cake to be baked in small cups". Before the invention of the muffin tin, cupcakes were baked in individual pottery cups, around the size of a teacup. Since then cupcakes have evolved with different ingredients, toppings and styles and become so popular that you even find trendy cupcake boutiques in New York.
